Travel to the heart of the Escambray Mountains of central Cuba for 5 nights and 4 days.
Located 20 km from the city of Trinidad which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Topes de Collantes National Park is an area of rugged terrain covering more than 20,000 hectares. It covers the provinces of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spritius, and has peaks reaching between 250 and 900 meters above sea level. Well known for its’ unique biodiversity, attractive landscape, lush forests, numerous rivers and streams, waterfalls and natural pools of crystalline water. The historic Sugar Mill Valley is one of the most scenic sights in Cuba. This is a fantastic opportunity to see an amazing landscape, drink the worlds best coffee, and meet some of the nicest people. There are morning and afternoon field trip to a variety of trails and cultural sites. You won’t be disappointed. Ability to hike mountain terrain is required. Trails are cleared and there is a path, some areas are steep or slippery.
We will fly Tampa to Havana on Southwest Airlines, flight 3952, returning on 3953 nonstop, on September 16th and 23th. We will stay in Havana the first and last night. Price includes meals, lodging, in country transport, field trips and a night at each end in Havana.

We will be traveling with renowned photographer and painter, Jeff Ripple, this years guest juror. Jeff is a fine art landscape photographer and natural history author. He has devoted nearly half his life to exploring and documenting the natural wonders of Florida and the South. Ripple uses 4×5 and 8×10 field cameras, which allow him to capture the subtleties of the natural landscape with amazing clarity. He hopes that through his work people will develop a new appreciation for their natural heritage.
